Whatever your event the key to a successful function is in the planning. We have put together some useful questions to ask yourself to help you with this.

• What is your function for?   (Wedding/ birthday/ hospitality/ concert)
• Where are you holding your function?
• What sort of function are you aiming for? (formal/ casual/ themed)
• How many guests are you expecting? (write a guest list)
• Do you need invitations?
• Is the site big enough and does it have enough facilities for this number of guests? (toilets /parking/power)
• Are you having a sit down meal or a buffet?
• What sort of drinks will you be serving, do you need a bar area?
• Do you need furniture (tables /chairs)
• Will your guests be dancing, do you need a dancefloor?

• Will you be having music, if so do you need a band or DJ and if so what equipment will they supply i.e. effect lighting?
• Are you catering the event yourself or do you want to employ a caterer, If you are employing a caterer will they provide all the relevant equipment or do you need to source this separately?
• Do you need a catering area for food preparation?
• Do you need a cake?
• Do you need a fridge or refrigerated trailer?
• Do you need crockery/ tableware or is your caterer arranging this?
• Do you want to use a florist?
• Do you need an independent power supply (generator)?
• Do you need toilet facilities?

Although things may seem a bit daunting, good organisation in the early stages will help your event run smoothly.
